Sergei Rachmaninov

“Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom” is one of Rachmaninov’s two major spiritual a cappella works.
In this season’s concerts “Prayers I–III”, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will be performing music connected to various religious traditions. This programme featuring Russian orthodox music will be followed by programmes with Western Catholic and Buddhist themes.

The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir performs Rachmaninov's masterpiece with an extended cast which includes six singers from different European countries – Italy, Portugal, Norway, Serbia, Slovenia and Russia, who applied for the project within the framework of the European cultural programme, the Ulysses Network.

The aim of the Ulysses Network is to offer, with the support of the Culture Programme of the European Union, unique work conditions to young artists. The EPCC has been a Ulysses partner institution since 2016.

Broadcasting by the Estonian Classic Radio on 14 October 2017 at St Nicholas' Church, Tallinn.
