The 2020 Estonian Music Days Festival focuses on BEAUTY.

For the artist, beauty is a mythical source of creation, as well as the supreme task of what is created. An unattainable target … But everything can always be made more beautiful. Shaping beauty always makes us look for something new.

But what is it that we are looking for? What does beauty speak of?

Beauty is diffusive and opaque, like the morning fog. There is chaos in beauty. There is numerical order in beauty.

The festival begins with a praise, with worshipping. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … We will worship the physical beauty of nature and creation, the spiritual beauty of creating, and the beauty of relationships and attitudes. The strictly beautiful and logical presence of chamber orchestra musicians: five chairs of first violin, four chairs of the second violin, three altos, two cellos, one double bass.

There is emptiness in beauty. An empty stage is a beautiful stage. ‘Zero’ is a concert of electronic sounds.

Beauty is individual. ‘One’ is a concert by one author.

Beauty is a dialogue. ‘Two’ is a concert for soulmates. For the piano and the zither.

Gatherings are beautiful. ‘Three’, ‘Four’, ‘Five’, ‘Six’, ‘Seven’ – these are ensemble concerts. From home and as guests.

Beauty is infinite – a sideways figure eight. The BEAUTY Festival will symbolically end with infinity: the symphony orchestra, the choir, electronics …

Beauty is a source of arguments. Who understands what is beauty? Who knows its secrets? The aesthetic perception of an artist or the disputes of scientists?

Beauty is richness (in sounds), beauty is tenuity, the beautiful patience of composing, the virtue and lust of beauty, wisdom and a simple mind, passion, coolness.

The eyes of the beholder are the most beautiful eyes.
