Tõnu Kõrvits (1969)

"Kreek's Writing Book" for choir and strings (2007)

Erkki-Sven Tüür (1959)

REQUIEM for chamber choir, two soloists, piano and strings (1994)

Tõnu Kõrvits' music is delicate and fragile, full of poetic visions. During the years, the romantic emotions have found an increasingly more refined and technically more versatile expression in Kõrvits' works – richer colours and timbres and more complex textures have been added to his language of sound. The works written during the last years also reflect melody styles of the East and Estonian folksongs. "Kreek's Writing Book" is inspired by the creation of the Estonian composer Cyrillus Kreek. The premiere was in June 2007 in the festival dedicated to Cyrillus Kreek, the performer was the EPCC conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste.

Erkki-Sven Tüür has been called one of the most significant composers of his generation, and not only in Estonia. It would be correct to say that he helps to keep Estonia on the world map, on the musical landscape of the world. Tüür is first of all the composer of instrumental music, although having started his musician's path in the group In Spe, he has written – at first for this group with which he performed also as a singer (!) - vocal music. So there is no need to wonder that his Requiem in memory of Peeter Lilje (1994) became the recommended work at the Paris ROSTRUM and has after that been broadcasted in radios in very many countries.
