The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has been invited to take part in the famous Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, where the choir participates in two opera productions – Kaija Saariaho’s “Innocence” and Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde”.

The rehearsals at the venue have started under the Finnish conductor Susanna Mälkki with Kaija Saariaho’s opera “Innocence”. The world premiere will take place on July 3rd at Grand Théâtre de Provence. The opera is commissioned and coproduced by Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, San Francisco Opera, Dutch National Opera, Finnish National Opera and Ballet, Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Opera in five acts is based on the libretto by Sofi Oksanen. It will be stage by Simon Stone, participating London Symphony Orchestra and international soloist cast.

EPCC is also included at the performances of Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde”, which will be conducted by the celebrated Sir Simon Rattle. Stage director is Simon Stone and the main roles sung by Stuart Skelton and Nina Stemme.

The festival lasts from 30 June to 25 July this year. The EPCC has taken part in this famous festival for two time before in the years 2011 and 2013.
