Elblag Chamber Orchestra and Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC) will have a cooperation in frames of the XV International Contemporary Music Festival  AFEKT 2016 in Estonia. The program will include works by renowned Polish and Estonian contemporary composers: Agata Zubel, Paweł Łukaszewski, Aleksander Nowak, Liisa Hirsch and Enno Pope. The invitation to participate in this project was accepted by eminent soloists and conductors from both countries. The purpose of the cooperation is to realize new projects and tighten ties between Polish and Estonian cultures and as a result the most valuable Polish music will be popularized and promoted at the European level.

The project is co-financed from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the program ,,Promotion polish culture abroad 2016 – PROMESA”.

EPCC has been done cooperation with many outstanding orchestras all over the world during its 34 years of activity. This time the initiative came from Elblag Chamber Orchestra. The managing director of EPCC Esper Linnamägi: „About a year ago a representative from Elblag Chamber Orchestra turned to us with a wish to make cooperation with the choir. It was a very interesting proposal for us, because our choir has had very few connections with Polish music and musicians. The next year we will have an opportunity to introduce contemporary Polish music together with outstanding Polish musicians at the festival AFEKT at the concerts in Tallinn and Tartu.“

Elblag Chamber Orchestra played their first concert in 2007. Since then, there have been over 600 concerts with leading Polish conductors and soloists and stars of the world music scene: Jerzy Maksymiuk, Kai’em Bumann, Michał Nesterowicz, Mark Moś, José Maria Florêncio, Massimiliano Caldi, Soyoung Yoon, Agata Szymczewska, Piotr Pławner, Erzhan Kulibaev, Łukasz Długosz, Krzysztof Maisinger, Janusz Olejniczak.

A varied and ambitious repertoire of Elblag Chamber Orchestra includes classic and contemporary works with special emphasis on Polish music. The Orchestra is engaged in the implementation of important musical events around the country and abroad. While touring in Spain orchestra took part in the 22nd edition of the Festival of Classical Music in Azkoitiia and the Classical Music Festival in San Sebastian. With successful concerts in Germany, where they celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in Berlin and concerts in Bad Pyrmont and Bad Munder. Elblag Chamber Orchestra graces galas, anniversaries, 35th anniversary of Solidarity, National celebration of European Heritage Days, the Sacred Music Festival in Gdynia, Pomerania Chopin Days in Waplewo, a project titled “Music of the Nations” in Kolobrzeg or Papal Days.

Its activity is not limited to classical music, boldly reaches for other genres. They willingly perform popular music, jazz, film music  and theater. Works with: Leszek Możdżer, Motion Trio, Atom String Quartet, Grzegorz Turnau, Dorota and Henryk Miśkiewicz, Jagodziński Trio, Anna Maria Jopek, Krzesimir Dębski, VOŁOSI and RAZ DWA TRZY.

Elblag Chamber Orchestra performs educational projects, performing special orchestral concert programs for children and youth: open dress rehearsals, a series of concerts entitled: Classic for Youngest, Welcome music! and Children Symphony.

The orchestra is also an organizer of National Festival ,,Muzyka polska na Żuławach”. The main idea of the Festiwal titled „Muzyka polska na Żuławach” is presentation of places connected with tourist route of gothic churches on Żuławy in characteristic conversation with Polish music.
