Celebrating the music of one of the world’s greatest living composers, Arvo Pärt, this concert brings a canon of his most popular works to the Concert Hall stage. Featuring Pärt’s closest collaborators, Tõnu Kaljuste (conductor) and the EPCC, A Sacred Journey also features musicians of the Sydney Symphony and violin soloists Satu Vänskä, Kirsty Hilton, Veronique Serret.
The programme consists of a cappella as well as orchestral works including „Magnificat“, „Spiegel im Spiegel“, „7 Magnificat-Antiphonen“, „Tabula Rasa“, „Fratres“, „Salve Regina“, „Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten“ and „Adam’s Lament“.
At the concert on April 6, the EPCC performs Arvo Pärt’s latest work „Virgencita“, which was composed for the EPCC Mexican tour in October 2012.
The EPCC has toured in Australia twice before. In 1993 ten concerts were given at the Perth Festival and in 1999 the choir gave eight concerts together with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, three of them at the Sydney Opera House.
