The programme has been developed in close collaboration with the Arvo P\u00e4rt Centre. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the season, Carnegie Hall will present seven concerts dedicated to P\u00e4rt\u2019s music, including two devoted exclusively to his compositions. <strong>The performances will showcase some of the world\u2019s most esteemed musicians, including violinists Gidon Kremer<\/strong> and Midori, the Estonian Festival Orchestra, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra<strong> and the <\/strong>Budapest Festival Orchestra under the direction of Iv\u00e1n Fischer, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarnegie Hall first approached us with the idea of appointing Arvo P\u00e4rt as the season\u2019s featured composer three years ago, and since then, we have been closely involved in shaping the programme and selecting the performers. We are especially delighted that some of Estonia\u2019s finest ensembles will once again have the opportunity to present themselves on this prestigious stage to an international audience,\u201d said Anu Kivilo, Managing Director of the Arvo P\u00e4rt Centre.<\/p>\n<p>On 23 and 24 October, conductors Paavo J\u00e4rvi and T\u00f5nu Kaljuste and Estonia\u2019s foremost ensembles, the Estonian Festival Orchestra, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, will present two concerts dedicated to P\u00e4rt\u2019s music. They will be joined by violinists Midori and Hans Christian Aavik and, soprano Maria Listra and pianist Nico Muhly. The programme spans nearly six decades of P\u00e4rt\u2019s work, from the orchestral piece <em>Perpetuum mobile<\/em> (1960s) and the pivotal <em>Credo<\/em> to later masterpieces such as <em>Adam\u2019s Lament<\/em>, <em>La Sindone<\/em>, and <em>Swansong<\/em>. Other works on the programme include <em>Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten<\/em>, <em>Tabula rasa<\/em>, <em>L\u2019abb\u00e9 Agathon<\/em>, <em>Stabat Mater<\/em>, and <em>Te Deum<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On 4 December, violinist Gidon Kremer \u2013 one of P\u00e4rt\u2019s longtime interpreters \u2013 will take the stage to celebrate the composer\u2019s jubilee alongside cellist Giedr\u0117 Dirvanauskait\u0117 and pianist Georgijs Osokins. Their programme will feature <em>F\u00fcr Alina<\/em>, <em>Fratres<\/em>, and <em>Mozart-Adagio<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArvo P\u00e4rt\u2019s music has left an indelible mark not only on Estonian culture but on the global cultural landscape, too. His unique musical world has touched millions, and Carnegie Hall\u2019s dedication of an entire season to his work is a profound recognition of his artistic greatness and timelessness,\u201d said Madli-Liis Parts, Cultural Attach\u00e9 of Estonia in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>P\u00e4rt\u2019s music has been performed at Carnegie Hall nearly 80 times over the years, with the first concert taking place in 1967 when the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Lukas Foss, performed <em>Perpetuum mobile<\/em>.
