The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by T\u00f5nu Kaljuste, will perform on October 4th and 6th at the European Polyphony Festival at the Evangelismos Theotokou Church in Rhodes.<\/p>\n
At the first concert, the choir will present a cappella<\/em> works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov, and Arvo P\u00e4rt. The second concert will feature the work “Katharsis” by Greek composer Savvas Karantzias, with the choir accompanied by soloists Vambola Krigul (percussion) and Chrysanthos Antoniou (violin).<\/p>\n
As part of the festival, a photo exhibition “Following the Sound and Silence,” by Birgit P\u00fcve and Anneli Ivaste, will also be displayed. The exhibition reflects fragments of the musical path of Arvo P\u00e4rt, who has influenced the understanding of the nature of music in the modern world. On some parts of this journey, he has shared a creative space full of valuable moments with his companions, conductor T\u00f5nu Kaljuste and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir. The photographers have followed the footprints of the musicians of this unique world.<\/p>\n
The sixth edition of the European Polyphony Festival was founded by French and Greek cultural organizations Arts Spontan\u00e9s and Ars Artis. This year, the festival will take place from October 1-13, presenting an ambitious program crossing classical music, photography and cinema, and transforming the Medieval City of Rhodes into a big interactive music workshop combining arts, culture, and creativity. The Festival European Polyphony highlights the city of Rhodes as a meeting place for cultures, audiences and disciplines and aims to be a place of creation, connection and proximity between artists and audiences, through the transmission and discovery of art and classical music.<\/p>\n
