Conducted by Kristiina Poska, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra perform Arvo P\u00e4rt and Gabriel Faur\u00e9 across Belgium as well as in Paris, France, and the Dutch city of Arnhem.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The concerts will also feature a Czech soprano, Hana Bla\u017e\u00edkov\u00e1, and a British baritone, Roderick Williams.<\/p>\n

The musicians will perform \u201cSilouans Song\u201d and \u201cAdam\u2019s Lament\u201d by the Estonian composer Arvo P\u00e4rt and \u201cRequiem, Op. 48\u201d by the French composer Gabriel Urbain\u00a0Faur\u00e9 (1845\u00a0\u2013 1924).<\/p>\n

The\u00a0concerts<\/a>\u00a0will take place on 12 February in Ghent, 13 February in Paris, 15 February in Brussels, 16 February in Hasselt, 17 February in Roeselare and 18 February in Arnhem.<\/p>\n

The Flanders Symphony Orchestra, established in 1960, is one of Belgium\u2019s leading orchestras. Kristiina Poska, originally from T\u00fcri, Estonia, was appointed the orchestra\u2019s chief conductor in 2019, becoming the first female conductor to be named to the post.<\/p>\n

The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has twice won the Grammy award for the recordings of Arvo P\u00e4rt music \u2013 for \u201cArvo P\u00e4rt. Da Pacem\u201d (Harmonia Mundi), recorded with Paul Hillier in 2007, and for \u201cArvo P\u00e4rt. Adam\u2019s Lament\u201d (ECM), with T\u00f5nu Kaljuste in 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cKristiina Poska\u2019s fellow countrymen of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir introduce music of Estonian composers like Arvo P\u00e4rt everywhere in the world. In\u00a0\u2018Adam\u2019s Lament\u2019, P\u00e4rt explores the pain caused by the loss of paradise with bitter undertones and thundering chords. After so much remorse, Faur\u00e9\u2019s\u00a0\u2018Requiem\u2019\u00a0almost sounds like a sigh of relief. Faur\u00e9\u2019s soft sounds do not evoke an end but a new beginning: a journey to eternal life,\u201d the Flanders Symphony Orchestra said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
