Danse Macabre (Dance of Death) is inspired by Bernt Notke’s medieval painting "Danse Macabre" in the St Nicholas' Church in Tallinn. It is a series of paintings of Death taunting the Pope, Emperor, Empress, Cardinal, King and Bishop, with texts in medieval German. This famous painting with its texts is the basis for the unique composition for the choir, soloists and chamber ensemble, written by the English composer and conductor Gregory Rose. Danse Macabre will be performed only once in the historic environment next to the painting in St Nicholas' Church.
