Toomas Tohert (tenor) has studied singing at the Estonian Academy of Music in the years 1988–1995 (prof. Rostislav Gurjev). He has completed his education with prof. Virgilijus Noreika and has participated in vocal music master-classes in Denmark. Since the year 2000 Toomas Tohert is engaged at the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir as a choir-singer as well as a soloist taking part in oratorio performances. He has sung soloist part in Joseph Haydn’s “Mass Sancti Nicolai” and “Harmoniemesse” together with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (conductor Tõnu Kaljuste), in Veljo Tormis’ “Estonian Ballads”, in Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio” (conductor Andris Veismanis) and “St John Passion” (conductor Daniel Reuss). He has made also some roles in operas, including Joseph Haydn’s “Il mondo della luna“ and “Armida” in Nargen Opera productions.
