Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir performed Sergej Rachmaninov’s Vesper for a crammed Oslo Cathedral. Their unique precision and timbre with odeurs of a thousand year-old liturgic tradition becomes a spiritual oasis. The 26 singers are shaped into a vocal sum of sonorous power. The church room floods with euphony when Daniel Reuss extracts all energy in the powerful parts. The amazingly homogenous sound from the women’s voices is particularly impressive.
